Our 4 Favorite Textiles to Enhance & Elevate Your Home's Interior Design

Textiles are the finishing touch on a space.  They work together to create a balance and keep a room from feeling bland.  While choosing luxury textiles can get expensive, adding one or two can really elevate the space and give you a high-end look.

Textile #1: Vibrant Velvet for Touch-ability & Texture

Velvet is one of the luxury textiles I love.  Velvet has a nap and will look slightly different depending on how the light hits it.  It is an elegant fabric and is a perfect textile to use on furniture, cushions, and even drapery.  There are performance velvets that resist staining. While I wouldn't suggest using it in a bench at a kitchen table with children, it is perfect for a dining chair or window seat cushion. On pillows, we can use the nap to our advantage and create entirely new looks based on how the front of a pillow is pieced.  It can also be pleated which results in the light hitting it differently and creating added interest.

Textile #2: Layered Linen for Classiness & Comfort

While 100% linen is not the best choice for window treatments due to its natural tendency to grow and shrink with humidity, a linen-look fabric is a perfect choice to add a relaxed feel to a room. Linen is a good choice on upholstery, bedding, and pillows to create a casual, comfortable room that is still elegant.

Textile #3: Luxe Leather for Durability & Design

Leather is probably the most interesting textile that can be added to your home to elevate the feel but still create a comfortable space to live in.  It is soft and comes in a huge variety of colors. As long as we use a high-end leather, it will be durable and will last for years to come on cushions, pillows, and upholstery. We source high-quality leather for our clients' projects.

Textile #4: Warm Wool for Softness & Sophistication

Wool is a textile that many associate with being itchy or uncomfortable, but those were the days of the past.  Wool can be soft and is a great to use in bedding accents.  It is a durable textile with an interesting texture that brings further interest and elegance to a room.

When mixing textiles, it is important to look not only at color and scale of print.  Texture plays a huge role and using at least one of these luxury textiles in your room is a great way to add interest and make your space one-of-a-kind and custom.

If you're ready to enhance the textiles in your home, reach out to us. We can't wait to hear about your project and help you add that touch of luxury!
