5 of Our Favorite Picks for a Guest Bedroom that is Inviting

When hosting guests, it is nice to make them feel welcome. In my mom’s house that means offering food to anyone who visited.  My own kids joke about how she will force you to eat even if you are not hungry.  When it comes to overnight guests, food isn't the only thing you should offer.  Guests should feel welcome to relax in the space where you host them, whether that is in a dedicated guest bedroom or in a shared space with a comfortable bed.

A Fluffy Duvet

Nothing evokes casual comfort like a fluffy duvet with a bespoke duvet cover.  Unlike a formal bed spread, guests will feel comfortable to sit back and relax right away without the fear of messing up a fussy bedspread.  The other great thing is you can easily clean a duvet cover once your guests leave. And we do hope they leave despite all the comforts you provide.

An Upholstered Headboard

Aside from being beautiful, upholstered headboards have built-in comfort to lean against.  Especially in a cramped guest space, an upholstered headboard can create a comfortable support while sitting in the bed.

Pillows Pillows Pillows

Of course a welcoming guest space needs pillows.  Offer guests a variety of sleeping pillows, some firm and some soft, preferably two choices per guest.  Then there are throw pillows. A bed made with a few throw pillows looks inviting and can upgrade the guest space.  These are especially important if your guest bedroom has another function like a home office.  Throw pillows will draw attention to the bed, not the other non-guest-bedroom-items that may be in the space.

Side Table, Clock, and Lamp

A side table is so important.  Guests need a place to charge their phones and set down their glasses or the book they may read before going to sleep.  On the table it is important to include a clock, because even in these days of having alarms available on our phones, there is something nice about not having to fumble for your phone if you wake up in the night and want to see what time it is. A lamp is a nice addition on the side table as well.  When your guest is settled into bed, they can simply turn over and switch off the light rather than stumble across the room in the dark.

WiFi Password and Extra Chargers

Finally on the side table you can also include your WiFi password and an extra charger or two for their devices. If a guest wants to log into their streaming account to catch a quick show on their own device before sleep, they can easily connect if you have your WiFi password prominently displayed without having to bother you at bedtime.

Before guests start visiting for summer, get your guest space ready.  Most of these things you can pull from other spaces in your home, but if not, Cozy Giraffe is here to help.  We can create that custom headboard, duvet, and pillows for your ideal guest bed. We also have sources for bed pillows of all types and can help you choose the right variety to have on hand for your guests.
