A Few Reasons Your Home Needs Color & Patterns to Feel Complete

Taking a home from builder-grade greige to one with some color personalizes your space and can create more than just a physical change.  You can affect mood with color, evoke a more energized or more calming feel.  Color also helps make a space feel cohesive and interesting (and be easy to change in the future). I can't wait to share the three best reasons to incorporate color into your space.

Reason #1: Color Captures Your Energy & Conjures Up Emotion

There is the place for a fully neutral room, which can feel minimalist and tidy. But when you throw some color into the mix, you will notice a change in your mood while you are in the space. Warm, bright colors can create energy in the room, while cooler colors can bring a sense of calm.

Reason #2: Patterns Impart Your Personality & Provide Interest

Placing color in a space can draw the eye to the areas you want to bring attention to.  Just like graphic design guides your eyes in print, the color in a room guides the visitor's eye around the space.  So put pops of color around the room, not just in one area.  Link the bedroom color into the attached bathroom or the living room colors to the kitchen.

Reason #3: Your Colors & Patterns Coordinate to Create Harmony

My favorite starting point is a multi-color print from which you can pull colors.  That could be in the form of a large piece of art, a fantastic wall paper, or a bed's comforter. Color can then be incorporated in the use of trims, borders on a fabric, or embellishments.  The piece with the variety of colors should be the one with the longevity and reflect your personality.  Pulling colors from that piece into smaller touches like pillows or a throw that can be changed more often allows you to keep it fresh.  Currently we are working on a space with teal, navy, and orange. I can't wait to see how it comes together.

Since Cozy Giraffe moved into its new space last year, we have been working on curating our fabric selections.  Make an appointment to come by and look through our fabrics. We can help you create a palate for your space.

Until next time,
