When a Small Workroom does a Site Visit
Offering fabrication advice that enhances your concept
I love to do a site visit as early as possible in the process. When I do a site visit it is more than a measure. We can discuss how things will be installed and how they will operate. I can share ideas on the latest and greatest in terms of hardware options and, if needed we can look at finishes and select fabric swatches to consider. Unlike larger operations that are only semi-custom, I am not tied to a small selection of options or specific brands of hardware. I will use what is best for your situation.
I may also notice some things that need to be considered like outlet locations, and obstructions or considerations with stackback (how much space drapery takes when it is opened) or projection (how far a treatment will come off the wall).
Handling awkward situations
Sometimes homes are built with a focus on the exterior facade and can completely ignore how a window looks from inside a room. Windows can be off center or awkwardly placed. I am here to help you brainstorm solutions to address any awkward spaces.
Finally, I am here to support you, the designer. I will never make it awkward in front of clients by critiquing your design or selections. I work directly with you and let you work with your client. If I see issues, I will bring them up privately unless asked specifically for feedback.
If you’re ready to book a site visit, I am here to help. Email me and let’s chat about it.
Site Visit FAQs
What is the benefit of a site visit?
A site visit is helpful for both the client and for me. It helps the client confirm that the design ideas work in the space and it helps me visualize what the end product will look like when I’m just looking at a bolt of fabric in the workroom. It is also helpful for budget considerations, taking measurements, and ensuring your custom item is truly custom.
Can I get a quote before a site visit?
If you send me both a picture and a rough measurement, then I can provide you an estimate. Unfortunately I can’t provide a quote without precise measurements and fabric selections.
What is the cost of a site visit?
I charge $125 to visit and measure up to three rooms.
